America Goes Insane Over the Weather
It’s official. America is now totally insane over the weather.
Even the Weather Channel that used to simply provide reasonably accurate, short-term information about the weather is now telling everyone we’re doomed because global warming is going to destroy the Earth. Why not just rename it the AlGore Channel?
The weather used to be the concern primarily of farmers and ranchers. It determines how well or not crops would grow and herds will thrive. As America became more urbanized, the rest of the population wanted to know whether to bring an umbrella or what to wear. Now it is a source of daily anxiety over the fate of the Earth.
To make matters worse, people are being told and actually believing that what they do or not can affect the weather in ways to keep the seas and temperatures from rising. It is no longer the domain of the sun, the oceans, volcanoes and clouds. These puny things are nothing compared to what kind of car you drive or what you use to heat your home.
That is a definition of insanity. It is so far removed from reality that Hollywood has to conjure up films showing New York under miles of snow or so-called documentaries demanding that industry must come to a stop in order to save the Earth.
I suggest we need to save the Earth from the legions of fear mongers who are seeking to control our lives for the crime of having abundant food, longer life spans, technological and scientific advances, or that permits you to get on a jet and be anywhere in the world within hours. We take for granted that trucks, the heart’s blood of an economy, will deliver anything you purchase on Monday by the following Wednesday. Try to imagine our nation without cars?
Let me provide an example of how far we have come since I was a child nearly seventy years ago. We had an icebox, not a refrigerator. A man would come and provide a big block of ice to keep food cool for a day or so. Air conditioning meant opening the window and turning on a fan. Washing clothes involved using a washboard and then hanging them out to dry in the sun. There was no television, no computers, no iPods, and no cell phones. Milk was delivered by a horse-drawn wagon during World War II because gas was scarce. Polio crippled thousands of people, including then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Do you really want to return to those "good old days"? In essence, that is exactly what the Global Warming Gestapo wants to inflict on every American these days.
The single most insipid phrase that any environmentalist or politician says is "climate change" because they actually believe humans are responsible for the change and ignore the fact that climate is always in a state of change.
None of us can read a newspaper or a magazine, or turn on the radio or television, without being told that we are just years, if not months, from the horror of global warming. A few weeks ago Colorado was digging out from three horrendous blizzards the likes of which have not been seen in a lifetime, while the East Coast had temperatures in the 70s.
The definition of weather and climate is "chaos."
Mother Nature has a message for you: Get out of the way! Here comes a flood, a blizzard, a tornado, a tsunami, a hurricane, a wildfire or an earthquake. Get out of the way!
The wisest climatologists who study weather trends over hundreds of years have no idea why mini-Ice ages or warming spells occur and meteorologists with access to the most sophisticated computer models cannot tell you with any certainty what the weather in your area will be a week from now!
In Congress, the newly empowered Democrats are getting ready to impose an insane program of "caps and credits" on so-called greenhouse gas emissions that is straight out of the UN’s Kyoto Protocol that totally exempts China and India, home to more than two billion of the six billion people on Earth.
Meanwhile, those same greenhouse gases are being emitted globally by millions of livestock that are responsible for 9% of anthropogenic CO2 (Carbon dioxide) emissions, 37% of methane emissions, 64% of ammonia emissions, and 65% of global nitrous oxide.
When you add in the methane and other emissions of the world’s swamps and forests, and all the chemicals emitted by the world’s active volcanoes, plus the fact that every human on Earth exhales two pounds of CO2 every day, the notion of crippling every element of the nation’s economy to "control" such things is, well, insane.
Carbon dioxide is not a "pollutant" no matter how many times Speaker Pelosi, Senator Boxer, Governor Schwarzenneger and a legion of global warming alarmists say it is. It exists in the Earth’s atmosphere and, other than the oxygen that keeps us alive, is the single most important part of our environment because all vegetation, forests and crops, depend on it.
Is there more of it around? Yes, since 1850 the Earth’s population has increased 600%! Is it a bad thing? No. The Earth has had periods of far higher CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and life thrived.
Right now, that eminent body of scientists, the Supreme Court of the United States, is deciding whether CO2 is a pollutant. That is insane.
Finally, during the last 100 years, the average global temperature has increased less than one degree centigrade. Some places like the poles remain encased in ice and snow all year. Other places like the deserts remain arid all year.
What we do not lack is a legion of "scientists" who cannot wait to run out in the streets and announce that their research conclusively proves we are doomed. We have others who run around saying that our weather is unusual or getting worse. It’s the weather! The weather is always in a state of change.
Are we supposed to return to the days when virgins were thrown into volcanoes or hearts were cut from living bodies in order to appease the gods that "control" the weather? Or are we all going to fall victim to those in Congress and elsewhere who insist we ruin our lives in order to achieve "control" over the weather?
It's the weather! Get over it!

Everything You Need to Know About Al Qaeda
"’There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is the prophet of Allah.’ Such is the cry that electrifies 250 million inhabitants of this globe. Such is the cry which thrills them so they are ready to go forward and fight for their religion, and consider it a short road to Paradise to kill Christians and Hindus and unbelievers…That is a cry which has the power of joining together the members of Islam throughout the world, and preparing them for a conflict with all who are not ready to accept their religion."
The words above were not written recently. In fact, Dr. Theodore Pennell, a missionary who penned the book, "Among the Wild Tribes of the Afghan Frontier", wrote them in 1909.There were 250 million Muslims then. There are more than a billion today.
The global war being fought today is one that has been fought in the past against the followers of Muhammad ibn Al-Wahhab. Born in either 1702 or 1703 in the town of Uyainah in the desert country of Nejd, a hinterland of the Arabian Peninsula about halfway between Jerusalem and Riyadh, we are literally locked into a battle for nothing less than the future of Western civilization.
At the time of his birth the Turkish Ottoman Empire ruled the Middle East and lands beyond. It was a surprisingly tolerant regime, but in the last century, already long in decline, it supported the Germans in World War One and, when that conflict ended, it did as well, leaving behind millions of Arabs who wanted their independence.
What they got, however, was the parceling of their lands into nations created by French and English diplomats huddled over a map of the Middle East. Lebanon became a French protectorate. The Arab prince Feisal was declared the ruler of Syria and his brother Abdullah was designated the emir of Trans-Jordan, both created as a gift to the Hashemite tribes that had assisted the British in the overthrow of the Turks.
Iraq was pieced together out of Kurdish land to the north, the Sunni conclave in the center, and the Shiite base in the south. These were given to British oversight along with a strip of barren land designated as Palestine, a name given it by a Roman emperor.
By 1924, Kemal Ataturk had established secular rule in Turkey, driving the imams back into their mosques. In Egypt a liberal government was established under the watchful care of Great Britain, causing alarm among conservative Muslim circles. The fanatical Muslim Brotherhood would emerge there.
In Arabia, a relatively unknown sheik, Ibn Saud declared himself to be the Emir of Hijaz and the keeper of the Holy Places, Mecca and Medina. He, like his ancestor, Muhammad Ibn Saud in 1744, aligned himself with the Wahhabi, a sect devoted to jihad or holy war.
In his book, "God’s Terrorists", Charles Allen, says, "The religious ideology to which Al-Wahhab gave his name created a community united in its total submission to God in the person of his emir." Wahhabism was imposed on various tribes as Ibn Saud expanded his Arabian empire and Allen notes that, "the Bedouin of Nejd became not so much holy warriors as fanatics without scruples. They preyed on their neighbors, each man in the raiding party setting out to plunder, destroy and kill bolstered by the conviction that he did so as a jihadi."
This was the same way that Islam under Muhammed was originally spread. It was a warrior cult, "One-fifth of the proceeds from these raids went to their emir, the rest being divided among the participating tribes." The object was booty. The excuse was Islam. Mohammed became a cult figure. Nothing much has changed today. Al-Wahhab added the element of fundamentalist fanaticism.
By 1932, Ibn Saud had conquered or negotiated control of the Peninsula to a point where he was able to declare it a nation-state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As Allen notes, "The governors appointed by him were reported to have carried out forty thousand public beheadings and no fewer than three hundred and fifty thousand amputations by the sword…"
Many events in the latter half of the last century contributed to the growing unrest throughout the Middle East whose consciousness is determined by Islam, Islam and Islam.
Following World War Two, India had become an independent nation and Pakistan had been partitioned from it as a refuge for its Muslim population, along with Bangladesh. The nation of Israel declared its statehood in 1948. Following a secession of military defeats, a movement for Palestinian statehood began, but always with the aim of annihilating Israel.
The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union was still going strong when, in the 1980s, the Russians made a grave error, deciding to invade Afghanistan to support a communist puppet government there. Afghanistan has always been the graveyard of empires and the resistance the Russians encountered gave rise to a rebirth of Muslim zealotry, inspired in part by the 1979 overthrow of the Shah of Iran. What followed was the seizure of American diplomats who were held for 444 days until the hour that Ronald Reagan became President.
Concerned by the rise of Shiite power, the Saudis who are Sunnis have been spending billions to fund countless madrasses and mosques, not only throughout the Middle East, but everywhere else, including Europe and America as well. These schools and mosques all teach the Wahhabi brand of Islam. There is a reason why fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.
The Saudis sent huge amounts of money and men to fight the war in Afghanistan, among whom was Osama bin Muhammad bin Awad bin Laden, just one more disciple of Muhammad ibn Al-Wahhab. Not so much a soldier, but a talented and wealthy organizer, bin Laden at the finish of the Afghan mission would form al Qaeda, the "base", and offer its manpower resources to the Saudis to rid the whole of the Middle East of all traces of Western culture and influence.
At the heart of Wahhabism is the belief that the purity of Islam depends on the rejection of innovation and change. The West’s greatest export is innovation and change.
Rejected and eventually exiled by the Saudis, bin Laden has become our nightmare.
Whether bin Laden is alive or not no longer matters. Alive he and his mentor, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, are the voice of Wahhabism. Dead he becomes a shaheed, a martyr, and a powerful inspiration to those who will continue to seek to impose Islam in its worst form on the whole of the world.
The reborn and revitalized Wahhabi movement has spread outward from the Middle East into Chechnya, India, Indonesia, and in northern Africa’s Algeria and Morocco, as well as to Spain, France, England, Denmark, the Netherlands, and to the United States.
Charles Allen asserts that, "The Muslim umma (community of believers) is made up overwhelmingly of pious, law-abiding men and women with strong moral values who wish nothing more than to live in harmony with their Muslim and non-Muslim neighbors." By contrast, Wahhabism permits for no tolerance, nor deviation from its interpretation of Islam, and "is prepared to use violence, oppression and fear to achieve that goal."
There is news of late that there is strife between the Saudi supporters of Wahhabism and Saudi King Abdullah who wants to curtail financial support for a movement that now threatens the royal family. The reason is as old as human nature. Most Muslims find Wahhabism oppressive and there is a growing backlash against it.
For the West, there can be no other outcome of this great battle of the new century than to destroy Sunni Wahhabism and the rise of the Shiite Islamic Revolution. It will require a ruthlessness to match this movements’ long history of violence. Whether the West and its allies around the world will meet this test will determine the future.
